Immigration (moving from another country)
Are you coming to live in Alkmaar from abroad? And will you be staying in the Netherlands for more than 4 months? In that case, you must register personally at the city hall in Alkmaar within 5 days after your arrival in the Netherlands.

Different nationality?
Do you not have Dutch nationality? Then you may first need to apply for a residence permit with the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).

- Yourself and any minor children;
- A valid passport of identity card;
- Your rental or purchase contract.
While making the appointment, you will be informed of any further documents you may need to bring.
Are you moving in with someone or are you going to live together?
In that case you will need permission from the main resident at the address where you are going to live.
Please bring:
- the permission form (Dutch PDF) completed and signed;
- A copy or photo of a valid passport or identity card of the owner/main resident.
